The place was dirty and disgusting when I moved in. I cleaned up pretty much the entire unit, even the insides of the kitchen cabinets. There was a used mouthguard sitting on the dish drying rack. A large bag of dirty laundry was on the balcony. I moved it to the stairwell and asked the landlord to take it away, but he asked me to put it back on the balcony. I refused. The bag of dirty laundry remained in the stairwell for the 12 weeks until I moved out. The plastic insulation film on the windows had become brittle and was crumbling, creating microplastic dust everywhere. The landlord was right that the place was old, but that wasn't the real issue. The building is old, but it wouldn't be bad at all if the landlord made an effort to keep it clean.
The room was quite spacious, and it offered good value for money compared to other rentals in the Hongdae area.
